Calculate your new BMI

There’s an article at bbc.co.uk about a proposed new formula for calculating BMI.  The page has a calculator which will show one’s BMI using both the standard and new formulae:

BMI: Does the Body Mass Index need fixing? (article inclues BMI calculator)

Mine was only marginally lower with the new formula but I’m still in the low range for normal.

This actually makes me think of something. I know that I am in pretty good condition regarding weight. I often meet others who I see are having problems. I feel a natural impulse to want to help them, but lately I’ve been questioning whether or how one should.

I firmly believe in the paleo-hybrid vegan diet that I follow. I have no doubt that, following it, I can eat as much as I want and my body still loses weight because none of the calories I take in are from the blacklisted sources – basically refined foods.

But still, there are so many different diets that people follow. And people’s bodies can be differernt. So is it really valid for me, even with the purest intention to benefit someone, to offer information to them? On some level, I think it would be an intrusion. Yet then, on another level, I really wish I could help others. Its a dilemma.
